Terra had met this guy Jared and they had something in common. They were both musicians. Music was Terra’s escape. She was a self-proclaimed lunatic, which makes sense for a girl that was in a looney bin for nearly four months, and left with nothing gained. She played every night on a bar near her apartment which she shared with her older brother and got paid for doing it. People liked her. She was a good piano player and a great singer. But most importantly, an amazing songwriter.

Jared had promised to go visit her at the bar and hear her play. Terra waited for him to show up, but it was getting late and she had to play, so she went onto the stage. She played her own songs, Terra almost never did covers, she preferred to express herself. “This next one is Parting Gift”.

I opened my eyes while you were kissing me once, more than once. And you looked as sincere as a dog. Just as sincere as a dog does, when it’s the food on your lips with which it’s in love.

Jared entered the bar, the smell of cigarettes and alcohol instantly surrounding him as he made his way into the room; A soft angelic voice caught his attention the minute he entered the bar. It was dazzling, it was soothing, but most importantly; it was Terra’s. He didn’t expect such beautiful singing from her, thus he was surprised “She’s really good” He commented in a murmur, looking around for the female whilst walking over to the stalls and sitting down onto one.

An absent smile began to curl his lips, ignoring the bartender and just focusing on Terra’s voice; Music was everything to him, and by the sound of her voice, it seemed to be everything to her as well “Bravo!” He exclaimed, applauding once the female had stopped singing and smiled widely, raising to his feet.

Jared watched the lovely female and curled his arm protectively around her shoulders “Cutie, I love you too” His free hand lifted to tenderly brush her hair behind her ear, breathing slowly so that his heartbeat was all she could hear.
